I write to enquire if you have an opening for a van-driver cum salesman. I left school at 18, after passing the G.C.E. Examination at the Cambridge School, Penning. Since leaving school, I have been employed as a van-driver cum salesman by Messrs. Davidson & Sons Ltd. of Kuala Lumpur; but the firm is closing down in a few days, for reasons best known to them.

I am accustomed to driving all day throughout the city and am therefore also familiar with all the streets and lanes in the city. As I am now only 20 years old, I am prepared to accept any reasonable salary. My immediate aim is to gain as much knowledge as I can, so that I may, in due course, be of greater service to any employer who offers me the job I seek.

If you have a suitable vacancy on your staff, therefore, I should be grateful if you would grant me an interview.

Having come to know that there is a vacancy in your company for a Mechanic, I submit my application to you for your kind consideration.

I am thirty years of age and have worked as a Mechanic in several workshops in this city. I have thus gained considerable experience in repairing a wide variety of motor-vehicles, which I know I can put to good use in your service for the progress of your firm.

I obtained my Diploma in Motor-Mechanics from the City College of Engineering, London, after passing my G.C.E.

At present, I am employed in one of the motor-firms in this city; but as I know that the terms and conditions of service in your company are much better for people with the qualifications I have, I feel impelled to seek employment in your company. I shall produce all the documents relating to my qualifications and experience, if you grant me an interview.
