Dear Dolly,
I find it necessary to find employment of some kind, and I am writing to ask if you know of anyone among the many people you meet to whom I could be useful as a Personal Secretary. I think you would be willing to recommend me for such a post. You know I should do my very best.
I do not expect a large salary, as I have some means.
Besides, I am no more a young and active lady. To earn some extra money for the sake of my children’s education abroad
is very important to me.
If you can help me in any way, I shall be very grateful to you.
Ever yours sincerely,
Gloria

Dear Mr. Samuel Dash,
I read your advertisement in today’s “Eastern Sun”, with great interest, as you describe my situation accurately.
As the manager of a large factory, I have plenty of responsibility and a good salary, but I miss the satisfaction of working on a problem as a whole and in depth.
I am thirty years of age, married, with sound managerial experience.
I hope I may have the opportunity to hear more from you, sometime this week, and also to tell you more about myself.
Yours sincerely,
Stephen Smith

Dear Sir,
Re: Application for an Appointment
Having just left school, I am looking for work to help myself and my family. Since yours is a big firm, I am writing to you in the belief that you do always have a vacancy for a girl like me.
I am seventeen years old and have learned only up to Secondary III, as the financial difficulties of my parents would not allow me to proceed further, though my performance in school was considered quite good by my teachers.
I am willing to do any kind of work that your are prepared to offer, for it will not only afford me an opportunity to reduce the burden of my parents but also to pursue my studies in an evening school and be of greater service to you and to my family in due course. My concern for my family will certainly increase my occupational efficiency.
I am therefore confident that you will consider my plight sympathetically and offer me a post as soon as possible. I assure you that I will do my best to give you satisfaction.
Yours faithfully,

Dear Sir,
Re: Application for Post of Salesman
As I am deeply interested in the career of salesmanship, I write to you in the hope that you will be able to employ me as a salesman in your renowned firm.
Aged eighteen, I have just left school after obtaining’ 0′ level passes in English, Mathematic, Geography, History and Economics in the G.C.E. Examination of the Cambridge University.
While in school, I played football and badminton and was an active member of the Literary and Debating Society. I was also on the Editorial Board of our School magazine. I took part in many interschool debates and won prizes and certificates for my oratorical skill.
As I am aware that a salesman in your firm has enough scope for his abilities of self-expression and for earning power, I am earnest in my desire to offer my services to you. I am prepared to travel extensively to promote your products.
I therefore sincerely hope that you will give due consideration to my application and let me know your decision at your earliest convenience.
Yours faithfully,
Robert Johnson

Dear Sir,
Re: Post of Mechanic
Having come to know that there is a vacancy in your company for a Mechanic, I submit my application to you for your kind consideration.
I am thirty years of age and have worked as a Mechanic in several workshops in this city. I have thus gained considerable experience in repairing a wide variety of motor-vehicles, which I know I can put to good use in your service for the progress of your firm.
I obtained my Diploma in Motor-Mechanics from the City College of Engineering, London, after passing my G.C.E.
At present, I am employed in one of the motor-firms in this city; but as I know that the terms and conditions of service in your company are much better for people with the qualifications I have, I feel impelled to seek employment in your company. I shall produce all the documents relating to my qualifications and experience, if you grant me an interview.
I would like to state, in conclusion, that I shall be able to assume duty in a month’s time, should you decide to offer me the post.
Yours faithfully,
17, Straight Lane, 93262 Kuala Lumpur.

Dear Madam,
Having no engagement at present, I wish to offer you my services which are those of a competent nurse and attendant. I have several testimonials from former employers, and, if necessary, I can procure others.
I could report for work immediately, if desirable, and on receiving a line from you to that effect.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully, Mary John
